Or at least it is when you know what to do.
Jude woke up one morning, got dressed and came into the kitchen.
"Good morning mom".
I looked at his face and gasped!
"Honey! What happened to your eyes?!"
Jude replied that his eyes were bothering him, but that it was "no big deal". They "just hurt a bit."
His eyes were swollen, red and starting to water.
Jude has a tendency to conjunctivitis, so I make sure I have what he needs on hand at all times.
Did you catch that? I have what I need for my families common complaints on hand, at all times. This is because I am keenly aware of the frustration that comes when you know which remedy to give, but don't have it on hand.
But let's get back to Jude's eyes shall we?
First, I got down the Optique1, my favourite homeopathic eye-drops. Anytime my clients have eye complaints of any kind, Optique1 is the main remedy I think of first along with any other remedies that may be required.
Optique1 is a Homeopathic medicine used to relieve minor eye irritations such as dryness, burning sensation, redness or itching due to allergies or pollution (ragweed, pollens, dust, smoke), strain, sustained visual efforts (computer, reading) or swimming.
In Jude's case, I put a few drops in each eye and then told him to go and grab Euphrasia 30c to take internally.
Euphrasia is a remedy made from the herb aptly called, Eyebright because it has been used for centuries to treat all kinds eye complaints including pink-eye. In it's homeopathic form it is a wonderful remedy for hay fever and allergies where the tears are profuse and acrid and the nasal discharge is bland. There can also be a sensation as if there was sand in the eye.
After a few drops of Optique1 in each eye, and one dose of Euphrasia 30, his eyes were already looking better. I followed that up with one more dose of each a couple hours later and his beautiful browns were back to normal.
Euphrasia is not the only remedy that can be used for conjunctivitis, but it's one of the top ones to consider anytime the symptoms agree.
I hope this helps!
