Top 3 Remedies For Hives
This was what my husband used to say to me when his skin started to develop hives that seemed to appear out of nowhere. Usually it was after some kind of food or beverage that contained gluten, but sometimes there didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.
Because my husband is a trucker he is away a lot, and that means that I have to make sure he has a well-stocked homeopathy kit containing all of the remedies that he will most likely need.
The remedy that always works for him is Apis 30c. He says that as soon as the remedy is under his tongue he can literally feel the hives dissipate.
My husband hasn't had the hives return in quite some time now, and to a homeopath, this makes a good deal of sense. Because homeopathy doesn't treat the symptoms, it uses the symptoms in order to correctly choose the appropriate remedy. Once this is choosen the remedy not only cures the acute condition of the hives in that moment, but also works to correct the condition that caused this condition to happen in the first place! So instead of employing a drug (an antihistamine in this case) to suppress the hives, we use a remedy such as Apis 30, to actually heal the body.
Top 3 Remedies for Hives:
Apis 30 - This is the first remedy I think of for hives that are extremely itchy and aggravated by warmth. The hives can be brought on by heat, exercise, and is often worse at night. There can be burning, stinging, smarting, and prickling pain, with excessive swelling, especially around the eyes.
Urtica urens 30c - As its common name Stinging Nettle implies, it produces stinging or stinging-burning pains and the hives are elevated. This is my second choice for hives if Apis fails to act. The hives can also be caused by bathing.
Rhus tox 30c - When rubbing, scratching or cold weather bring on the welts, Rhus tox could be your remedy. There can also be restlessness and the person finds comfort with warm application.
I would like to add one more remedy to the list that is not usually mentioned for hives but I have found it to work very nicely when other remedies have not acted. Histaminum 30. This remedy is for red, itchy hives that are the size of a pea, and can be all over the body. They are better by scratching and worse from bathing. There can be a sensation of heat and burning.
Whichever remedy you choose, if severe, it should be given every 15 minutes or so until the reaction calms down. After that, it can be given every 6-12 hours until very much better.
No need to use an antihistamine when the correct homeopathic remedy is at the ready.
There is another way.
