What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of medicine that uses ultra- diluted substances from the plant, mineral, and animal kingdom, to stimulate the bodies natural ability to heal itself.
Homeopathy had its beginnings in the early 1800s with German physician Samual Hahnemann. He was opposed to the way doctors at that time practiced medicine and went in search of a more humane and curative way. His goal was to discover:
“If God had not indeed given some law, whereby the disease of mankind would be cured.”
His search led him to discover a profound natural law, the Law of Similars, which is the cornerstone of homeopathy.
The Law of Similars states that any substance that can cause symptoms when given to a healthy person can also heal those same symptoms when the person is unwell. This is not a new concept, as early as 4th century B.C. Hippocrates wrote:
“Through the like disease is produced, and through the application of the like, it is cured.”
16th century German physician Paracelsus, reiterated this law.
Here is a simple example of employing the Law of Similars: Allium cepa is a remedy made from the common onion. In its gross form, onions make our noses run and our eyes tear. These symptoms also occur in the common cold, therefore, the homeopathic remedy Allium cepa, can be used to aid the body in ridding the cold virus by further stimulating the process the body is already using. Instead of employing a drug to dry up the mucous membranes and suppress the illness, homeopathy uses the symptoms to correctly choose the appropriate remedy and help the body to heal itself.
Homeopathy is on the rise all over the world, thanks to the dissatisfaction of patients who have become disillusioned with the medical treatment of the day. They are looking for a safe and effective approach to healing and finding the answer in homeopathy.
